Most people love the idea of metabolic training, yet most don’t even know what it is. Perhaps it’s because the name doesn’t mean anything and it’s just the name. However, IHP assigned that name to a very spe- cific style of training with more utility than meets the eye. In this presen- tation, JC Santana will give you his definition of metabolic training, some of the obvious reasons for its implementation, and some not so obvious approaches to its utilization. Attendees will learn the physiological, psy- chological, and spiritual adaptations that are brought by this exciting form of training, as well as take away some of the protocols used by thou- sands of IHP clients over the last 20 years! Get ready to be blown away by metabolic training, and its latest training adaptation, “Psychomotor Vigi- lance.” During the workshop portion, the attendees will get to test-drive several of the protocols that have made the IHP Metabolic protocols the go-to training method for coaches from around the globe. Building a Multi-Directional Speed Program from Scratch When building your speed development program there are very specific principles that should be prioritized. An early stage of multi-directional speed development should be built around great habits of movement. Once athletes are in the “Reactive-Tier” phase of speed development they have proven to be proficient in multi-directional movement. The “Reactive-Tier” phase is a Decision-Making phase in which athletes no longer think about footwork, but rather how to accomplish a task as quickly as possible. Allow me to take you from Start to Finish when put- ting together your multi-directional speed program. ( Providence )
